It was valentines day yesterday and my husband didn’t get me flowers or chocolates or a romantic valentines day card..

He had warned me a few days before that he was going to come home with nothing for me..

But he had also told me that he was going to get me something that I have always kind of wanted and been looking around for… a new engagement ring.

When I first brought up the subject of getting another ring a few months back, he was quite offended saying that I felt what I already had wasn’t good enough or that I was replacing the true symbol of his love and devotion. I understood where he came from. But as a girl, that was not what I had in mind..

So I pushed the thought aside thinking he would never consent to getting me such an extravagant gift ’til those few days ago when he volunteered the thought again. So of course, being the obsessive person that I am, I began my search. I looked everywhere! Online jewelry retailers, stores that I never even heard of, mall shops.. I even went to a deceivingly “affordable” jewelry shop by myself to look around and I was so repulsed by their prices. I had given up on finding the “perfect” ring, beautiful, simple, elegant and most of all sparkly.. Lol..

The day before valentines day, I decided to take a chance and look around in a small shopping center relatively close to where I work. I went to one of the very well-known department stores in there and I did not think I would find what I was looking for at such an unlikely place to buy jewelry, engagement jewelry no less.. But there it was, the ring I have always wanted, sitting and waiting behind that beautifully-lit glass case. I was hesitant to really look and touch and try it on because I assumes it would be something completely, ridiculously out of our price range. Not listening to my conscience though, I asked the lady to take it out for me so I could try it on. I stared into the diamonds’ eyes and was mesmerized by the sparkle. I looked at the tag that was still hanging onto the ring’s limbs and my heart sank… I was too much.

I tried it on anyway, I slipped the band on my finger and damn, I fell in love, the kind of the love that hurt because you know it can never be yours.. But then there was a glimmer of hope.. The sales lady told me that they were having a huge sale! Geez louise! She calculated everything for me and it was going to end up still a little bit over our budget but it was do-able.. Now if I could just show it to my husband and see what he says..

So after he got out of work, my husband met me at the mall and examined what was going to be my valentines present and renewed symbol of his everlasting love. He took the ring in his hands and said it was beautiful, looked at the price tag and shook his head… Uh oh… But then the lady at the counter told him about the fantastic discounts that they were offering on the beaut and he was like, “Ok, is this what you really want?”

Without hesitation, I let out a huge yes! And that sold it to him.. The fact that I really wanted it, that it gave me that much joy and of course the ring’s undeniable beauty..

So here it is, my valentines present and engagement ring. I am still in disbelief that I could own such a lovely piece of jewelry, symbolizing how much I am truly loved and cherished.. I will be forever grateful for the privilege of owning such a remarkable piece and having the rest of my life to spend with my wonderful, awesome, fantastic, loyal, patient, loving husband.

I also picked up one lipstick and one nail polish from the line. Here’s my first impressions video.

I just found out today from Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics that 27 new colors were added to the Julie G nail polish line sold exclusively at Rite Aid. So of course, I dashed to find them at my nearest drugstore and sure enough, these polishes were a sigh to behold! All the new colors were beautiful!!

I just spotted these two new Wet N’ Wild polish collections at my local CVS while I getting my prescription refilled. The neon ones looked really pretty but I only picked up the yellow one since I already had similar colors. The magnetic polishes are as usual dark metallic looking colors and I only picked up the navy blue one.

The Wild Shine polishes retail for 99 cents each while the magnetic polishes are $4.99 each.
Both collections are limited edition so grab ‘em while you can!

I’ve been using this product more often when I expect to be outdoors because I love how light weight it is. It just give my skin a wonderful, natural-looking glow!
